Pomeranian Loyalty

When understanding the Pomeranian temperament the main thing you will learn is that Pomeranians are extremely loyal dogs.  They will become very attached to their owners.  A Pomeranian may also choose a ‘favorite’ of the family and will become even more loyal to this chosen person.  If this does happen, then it’s best that this chosen person becomes the Pomeranians main trainer, as your Pomeranian will be more likely to listen to them.

Stubbornness in Pomeranians

Although small, Pomeranians are extremely tough and very stubborn.  Because of this if not trained correctly they will do whatever they please!  It’s really important that this doesn’t happen!  They best way you can control this stubbornness is by showing your Pomeranian that you are the one in charge or the leader of the ‘pack’.  You can do this by never letting your Pomeranian eat before you and not showering them with attention for the first ten minutes after you get home.  Once your Pomeranian realises that you are the leader they will become a lot less stubborn and will listen a lot more!

Pomeranian Lovingness

Another thing you will learn when understanding the Pomeranian temperament is that they are particularly loving pets. Your Pomeranian will love nothing more than sitting with you while you give them cuddles.  This will also enhance the bond between you and your Pomeranian.

Pomeranian Playfulness

Pomeranians love to play so you should encourage this!  Play fetch, frisbee, go for walks, run around together in the backyard – anything will do!  Your Pomeranian will love the fact that you are playing with them.  Also, as a bonus, playing is a great form of exercise for your Pomeranian.  If you don’t have enough time to play with your Pomeranian daily, then make sure they have plenty of toys to play with on their own.  And remember, by playing with your Pomeranian you are creating a great friendship and bond.

Protective Pomeranian

When understanding the Pomeranian temperament you will soon learn that they are very protective dogs.  They may be small in size but they big personalities and they aren’t afraid to growl or bark as a means of protecting you. This is okay sometimes, however if the barking and growling seems like it’s getting out of control, then you may need to look at ways of controlling it.  You can do this on your own or you can get a professional in to help.

When understanding the Pomeranians temperament you can see there are lots of aspects to it.  They are extremely loyal, stubborn, loving, playful and protective.  Because of this, they make excellent pets and would be a great addition to any family!
